Jain Architecture is one of the greatest ancient architectural marvels in India, known for its intricate stone carvings and detailed craftsmanship. Unlike Hindu temples, Jain temples are adorned with a wide range of artistic elements, including Tirthankara figures, deities, animal forms, and plant designs, all intricately carved from marble and granite. These temples are sacred spaces dedicated to Tirthankaras and reflect the rich traditions of Jainism. We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Specialized Jain Temple Stonemason to join our team and bring these majestic designs to life through precision stonework.

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and lay stones to build structures such as piers, walls, and abutments, or lay walks, kerbstones, or special masonry, using mason’s tools.
  • Cut, surface, polish, and install marble and granite or install pre-cast terrazzo, granite, or marble units while ensuring the best layout for achieving the desired pattern.
  • Apply sealers to make grout stain- and water-resistant.
  • Spread mortar over stone and foundation with a trowel, setting stones in place using appropriate techniques.
  • Carve intricate details on ceilings, doorways, pillars, and panels to create remarkable designs.
  • Align stones with a plumbline and finish joints between stones using a pointing trowel.
  • Spread mortar along guides to ensure uniform joint thickness.
  • Clean surfaces of finished walls by removing excess mortar using muriatic acid and brush.
  • Drill holes in marble or ornamental stones and anchor brackets.
  • Lay out wall patterns or foundations using a straight edge, rule, or staked lines.
  • Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto marble slabs, stone, or foundations.
  • Smooth and polish stone surfaces using hand and power tools.
  • Dig trenches for monument foundations using manual tools.
  • Line mold interiors with treated paper, fill with stone mixture, and carefully set in place.
  • Repair damaged stone or marble by using blowtorch, mastic, or power tools for grinding and chiseling.
  • Maintain the integrity of stonework by ensuring precise detailing and applying finishing touches to the construction.
  Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working as a Stonemason, particularly in the construction or architectural design of Jain Temples.
  • Ability to visualize and implement intricate aesthetic patterns in construction design.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints.
  • Expertise in using stone cutting, shaping, and binding tools.
  • Certified to operate heavy machinery, cranes, and hoists.
  • Physically strong, capable of manipulating heavy stones and working in demanding conditions.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in noisy, high-energy environments.
  • A deep appreciation for Jain Architecture and the cultural significance of Jain temples.
